Artists, community members, Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust teams and Didcot Train Station staff came together on 25 January 2024 to celebrate the culmination of the Didcot's Brilliant project.

Each of the final 16 artworks, which will now go up for public display in the train station, has been created as a collaboration between Didcot Community Hospital patients, members of local community groups and schools.  As exclaimed by one of the attendees at the celebration event, 'they are stunning'.

This project has been a true community creation with Dionne Freeman and the Oxford Health Arts Partnership working alongside Didcot Community Hospital patients and staff and individuals from:

  • Adult Mental Health services
  • Age UK Oxfordshire
  • Arts Development - Abi
  • Aureus School
  • Cornerstone

  • Didcot Library
  • Didcot Silver Pride

The project has been well received by all involved and as one member of staff from the Community Hospital stated,
I just wanted to let you know what an impact these sessions have on patients. One patient, who has just been discharged, said that her weekly art sessions with you were the one thing that kept her going. She suffers from anxiety and depression and the art sessions with you gave her purpose and focus.

Funding for the project was provided through the National Lottery Community Fund as well as Oxford Health Charity.
