Donate to ROSY

We are thrilled to announce that the church of Our Lady and St Edmund of Abingdon has raised an amazing £7,370 for our ROSY (Respite for Oxfordshire's Sick Youngsters) Appeal through their fundraising activities this year. These activities included a number of cake sales and a St. Patrick's Day dance, as well as non-uniform and crazy hair days at St Edmund's Catholic Primary School.

Angela Conlan, our Interim Development Manager, and Christina Newbould, Matron for the Community Children's Nursing Team (pictured below), attended the Church's Parish Day on July 13th, to collect the cheque on behalf of Oxford Health Charity and the ROSY healthcare team.

Every Lent, the parish of Our Lady and St Edmund of Abingdon chooses two charities to raise funds for, from the great number which have been proposed by our parishioners. This year, the ROSY Appeal was selected because we were touched by the work Oxford Health Charity does, providing respite care to Oxfordshire's terminally ill, acute and chronically sick children by supporting them in their own homes. We became aware that this little-known charity relies entirely on the fundraising support and generosity of the public and, looking at the work the dedicated ROSY staff do, it was unanimously agreed by the parish council that the ROSY Appeal would be a very worthwhile cause to support. To raise the funds, parishioners organised a number of fundraising events and also donated generously on our final collection day. We hope that the money we raised will greatly help the staff of ROSY to continue to deliver much-needed respite care to the children and their families who need it.

During the Parish Day a cheque for the same amount was also presented to the chosen overseas charity, African Adventure.

The whole team at Oxford Health Charity and ROSY healthcare professionals would like to thank all the congregation at Our Lady and St Edmund of Abingdon for their generosity and commitment to charitable work, which has provided much-needed funding for our ROSY Appeal and the families the ROSY team support.

As a ROSY team we have been blown away by the incredible generosity shown to us by St Edmund's parish. It is so inspiring for us and our families to know that we have been supported by such a generous donation. We are in the privileged position of being able to support children with complex health needs in their own home, which at times can feel isolating for the team and the family, so knowing that we have the support and prayers of communities such as St Edmund's empowers us to continue in our work. We look forward to feeding back to the parish at a later date on how the donation has been used.
