We have been so excited to welcome teams from different companies onto our sites over the last year to help with projects for our patient groups.

Last November, a group of employees from Johnson and Johnson joined the Chiltern Rangers team to help bring colour and plant-life to our newly arrived Lucy's Room Appeal building.  Their support was absolutely brilliant - from painting to planting, they really transformed the space from a simple newly arrived Portakabin to a beautiful space for sitting ahead of the music room being opened.

This summer, eleven employees from Laing O’Rourke formed a ground force team to tackle two gardens at Rectory Road in support of our community partner, Response. Not only did they provide over 55 hours of manpower over two days, they also generously provided plants and materials worth £725 and transformed the gardens for Response residents.

Harriet Hirst, Social Sustainability Advisor, Laing O’Rourke, who organised the activity alongside our Green Spaces Coordinator, Laura McCarthy, said

“A huge thank you for having us, and creating this volunteering opportunity for our LOR staff. The team really enjoyed it (and we got very lucky with the weather!) – and it’s so lovely to hear of the benefits to the residents using the gardens. I am glad we could make an impact with the time/materials that we donated. Laing O’Rourke are really looking forward to continuing our partnership with Oxford Health, and work we can do with other sites.”

Lauren Bourton, Area Manager at Response said “I am totally overwhelmed by the transformation of the gardens, I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone involved.  I have received such positive feedback from the clients and this has been very much a talking point throughout Response. The changes this space will make to staff and clients mental well-being will be forever growing. Thank you all so so much.”

As part of a now regular arrangement, employees from Aecom joined the Trust’s Green Spaces Coordinator, Laura McCarthy, at Wallingford Hospital to help with an Autumn tidy. The team tackled weeds and tidied at the front of the hospital as well as one of the internal courtyards. Following their first visit, Laura said “a huge thank you to Lucas and Eric for their tremendous effort at Wallingford last week. They did a smashing job”

Hub Manager, Daniel Moore said “Any help in the grounds and gardens is always appreciated”
