Charity supporters had their cake and ate it raising £650 at a special coffee morning at Rick Stein Marlborough to support patients with severe eating disorders.

The restaurant group hosted the event on March 30, in aid of Cotswold House – the 12-bed specialist inpatient unit run by Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust.

Members of the public were encouraged by the restaurant to nominate a local charity and Cotswold House, which is based at Savernake Hospital, was selected after receiving multiple nominations.

Becky Deane, an Occupational Therapy Technical Instructor at Cotswold House, who helped organise the event said: “We are absolutely thrilled with the response from the good people of Marlborough who came out and supported us. It’s a fantastic achievement to have raised so much in such a short time and in such an enjoyable way.

“The coffee and cakes were delicious, so our heartfelt thanks go to the Rick Stein team. The money raised for our Oxford Health Charity will really make a huge difference for our current and future patients who are battling eating disorders.”

Julie Pink, Oxford Health Community Involvement Manager, said: “I’d like to thank Rick Stein, head chef at Marlborough Kevin Chandler and the team for their huge support.

“We really appreciate businesses and organisations helping us and showing how much they support the NHS and the mental and physical health services we provide across five counties – whether they are in community hospitals, mental health professionals and therapists who work with children and adults or our amazing teams of health visitors and school nurses.

“Out charity exists to support and enhance services across Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust with funding not available through normal NHS funding. Every penny raised for the charity not only helps patients, carers and families but also our dedicated staff.”
